Hello, I am Lisa Gherardini, though you probably know me as the Mona Lisa.
Leonardo da Vinci began painting me in Florence around 1503, using tiny layers of glaze to create my famous mysterious smile.
Today, I live behind bulletproof glass at the Louvre in Paris, where millions of visitors come to see me every year.
I am the girl with the pearl earring, captured by Johannes Vermeer around 1665.
I am actually a tronie, a study of a character rather than a real portrait, painted with incredibly expensive ultramarine paint.
You can find me hanging in the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague, still looking back at you.
